1/6/2020 PTO Meeting Notes

Call to order 7:11 pm
Review / Approve – Dec meeting minutes – Laura and Jenn approved and second
7:12 pm BOE update
Jenn received a full-time position at CPS, maternity leave for Hailey McGavisk
Mrs. Hedden received teacher of the year award
7:13 pm CEA update – no update.
Pres – none

- Jenn gave carnival info to Laura
- VBT took notes last meeting
Secretary – more thank you notes came in.
Communications –Melissa
- Booster club, pasta dinner info sent out
- To do: communicate teachers lounge and post to website (VBT)
- Dance to be advertised
- Collection for Liddy Arnold and it was also posted on parents of Clinton. They are going to Guatamala for a week on a medical mission. Looking for travel soaps etc.
- Money from box tops – $1,742.60 Woohoo!

Q – LT Can you show up for a shift at the concession stands at the game?
A – An email was sent out about it. Check out the sign-up and it will tell you the time slots.
Treasurer – Melissa
Holiday bazaar – total cash over 6k that was taken in. total profit of $259.32 cents.
Socks were the best seller. Purchased for $1 and sold for $2.
Next year December 7th and 8th. So it will right before Hanukkah. – collect pictures to post to website (VBT)
7:30 pm Committee Reports
Boxtops – next collection in February – more to come
Teacher lounge – almost done. Needs grout behind the sink, and then it’s complete!
Office staff appreciation – will do it in February for Valentine’s day and get an edible arrangement
Grants – still waiting to hear from Kubik to follow with an itemized list
Courtyard – Melissa to contact 2 landscapers in February and check to see if there is any funds left over from the art sculpture. Vision from Mrs. Lauricella – most of the spend might be rock because it needs to have rock brought in to cover the muddy areas. Clean out brush from AC, prune, clean garden beds, finish pathway between flower beds with sand and slate (already provided), strap rain barrel to gym wall, establish outdoor electricity (large cost). Provide seating for students and outdoor classroom learning. Maybe earth day celebration. If earth day falls during spring break we can choose our own earth day event.
Winter dance (1/31/20) –Amy Banek- ballots are being submitted. Dance is K-8. Tricia to be the point person to help, but that may change.
VBT set selfie booth and create secure login for pictures on the website. Decorate based on the theme.

Everyone to bring an appetizer or dessert to share
Asking teachers if there is interest for a teacher table so we can find
sponsorship for it

Bike Rodeo? (April 21st)? Check the school calendar for conflicts. Last year it was open to 3rd and 4th grade. Students need to know the basics of how to ride a bike. A larger space is requested for this year. Maybe have it at Bundt Park this year? VBT to inquire about who to contact.
Opioid discussion (Melissa)? The prevention network. Short talks to parents. Set up talk at a PTO meeting and invite parents, is there any interest in this? Information is being sent around for the Event “In Plain Sight” hosted by Franklin Township.
Vaping education – 4 lessons for the Middle School students, next year.
